The iconic G9 jacket from Baracuta is a cult classic still revered today, an unmistakable jacket much imitated and never bettered.
Baracuta was founded in Manchester, UK and the G9 is still made in the UK to this day.
The Miller brothers were looking to create a brand that made stylish rainwear. Living in Manchester during the 1930s they saw the need for stylish yet functional clothing. The brothers were members of Manchester Golf Club and wanted the jacket to be suitable for all golfers. So, alongside extra movement provided by the umbrella yoke back and sports cuffs, it also has the perfect space to keep your golf balls. The jacket was finished in the famous Baracuta cloth, a high quality fabric that is water repellant, sturdy and functional.
Each part of the G9 has been thoughtfully designed even down to the Fraser tartan lining, chosen for their long running history where they survived several clan feuds, showcasing the strength and durability of the G9.
This jacket has a heritage with celebrities and subculture - worn by Elvis Presley in the film ‘King Creole’ was the break that saw the jacket move into a menswear must have. Later worn by more big names such as Jame Dean and Frank Sinatra. It then became big picked up by subcultures such as Mods, Skinheads and Punks to name a few. Still worn by celebrities in films or their everyday life, the Harrington is now an all time classic that can be worn by all ages and styles.
The G9 Harrington is designed to have a slim fit so this needs to be taken into consideration when you're looking for your perfect size. If you are looking to wear this layered with thicker jumpers or prefer a more relaxed fit we would recommend sizing up to achieve this look.
