Colchester Rubber Co. are well known for inventing the world's first basketball sneaker, changing footwear fashion forever and sparking hundreds of lookalikes (think Converse, for example - these guys are the originals). Since then they've reinvented the design based upon the original, world's-oldest basketball shoe, discovered by chance and believed to have once been owned and worn by Dr. James Naismith, inventor of Basketball in 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts - found only 50 miles away from Colchester Rubber Co's factory. These sneakers were most likely a prototype designed for Dr. Naismith by Colchester Rubber to be used in his new game.
These 1892 National Treasure High Top are a nostalgic replica of those revolutionary boots. Constructed from durable vulcanised rubber and authentic canvas these original 5" sneakers were the first of their kind, protecting feet whilst running, jumping, and pivoting on indoor basketball court floors. Now, featuring the likes of a rubber toe cap, metal eyelets, and a turkey feather pattern on the soles, these inspired vintage shoes mix the modern and contemporary world of fashion expertly to give you a trainer unique and part of fashion history.
Stand out and do different with these shoes: they're a sure-fire slam dunk.
